What is considered a dental emergency?
A dental emergency is an issue that requires immediate attention. There are signs or symptoms you can watch out for that may indicate you have an emergency, and need to contact our office. If dental emergencies are not treated promptly, they can cause additional complications or health issues. Our office is available for dental emergencies, and we will do our best to get you in as soon as possible. Common dental emergencies include alleviating pain, treating an infection or saving a tooth.
Signs that you may have a dental emergency:
- Bleeding or irritated gums
- Abscess or infection
- Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold
- Lip or mouth sores that do not go away
- Spots on your teeth or you notice your teeth are changing color
- Persistent tooth pain that does not go away
- Loose or injured teeth
Our team at Sienna Dental is equipped to handle dental emergencies with care. Our priority is to alleviate any pain the patient has and make them comfortable. If a tooth is injured or damaged, our priority is to save the tooth. Infections are treated very seriously and are treated immediately. If the emergency is severe, patients may have to return to our office for further treatment.
Recovery after a dental emergency:
When patients are recovering from a dental emergency, they may have some pain. Medication may be prescribed, or over the counter pain relief medication will be recommended. Pain during recovery should subside after a few days. If you are still experiencing pain that does not subside, please contact our office right away.
